When you set out to do something challenging, very challenging – why do it alone? You will have a greater chance of success if you partner up with a coach.
A coach offers you insight and knowledge from their expertise and experience. A coach poses those powerful, sometimes painful, questions that turn you upside down and make you reflect. When you reach your self-imposed limit, a coach can give you that gentle push to become more of what you were destined to become.
Where are you going?
To start a journey, you first have to know your destination. Vital questions need answers:
What do I want?
What assets do I already have?
How do I get what I need, so I can reach my goal?
Does anyone care?
Once you define the answers, you need a master plan of action. When we are in the midst of action, road blocks appear. In German they call one famous personal roadblock the “innerer Schweinehund” the willpower-lacking part of us that says, “I’ll do it tomorrow”.
Then there is the fearful roadblock that says, “I can’t do it”.
The unrealistic roadblock that says, “I’ll do it in less time and sweat than others.”
Some people get to a roadblock and stop. They turn off their engines and no one cares that they never reached their destination.
A coach cares. A coach is with you in the beginning of a journey when you define your goals and make an action plan. A coach is there in the middle when the going gets tough and you turn off your motor. A coach holds you accountable to your dreams. Sometimes you have to go back to the drawing board and redefine the destination, other times you just need someone who genuinely cares that you ran out of gas before your arrival. A qualified coach can bring you in motion again.
A coach holds you accountable to your dreams.
A coach is there in the end when you arrive at your destination: your dream becomes a reality, your desired change becomes a natural part of you, your life has become your message. When the work is done, the challenges met – a coach is the person who will celebrate your victory with you. A coach, who was there for the ride, knows how much fear you had to face and challenges to conquer to get where you are.
Below is a coaching description from a recent client’s perspective. As result of our coaching collaboration, she is now in South America living her legend to teach IT to young girls from disadvantaged communities. I never doubted that she would arrive where she is today.
Having a coach was the best thing that happen to my life. I used to be caught in the busy daily life, run from one place to another so to say and not having time to reflect. I totally agree with the Google CEO Eric Schmidt, who said that the most valuable advice he had ever received was to “get a coach.”
Before this, I used to read a lot of books, decided to change my habits, but never managed to. With coaching I held myself accountable and managed to take action. The sessions gave me the power to change old bad habbits and form new good ones. For example: among others now I do breathing exercises every morning and evening, I do yoga at least every morning, I write in my journal when I needed, I prepare for every meeting I have at work.
With Dyane I reevaluate everything what I thought life means and re-question it. This helped me to steer my life in a different direction and take the decisions that fulfill me. As for example, I got the courage to take a sabbatical for one year from my work.
Dyane was very attentive, compassionate and, very important for me, respected my own pace. If I needed to speak every week or every two weeks, she found the time, if I needed a break she respected it. She let me find my own answers, thus the joy of discovery was amazing. She also knows to really listen and to say the words I needed to hear – very subtile, but very effective.
The coaching experience is a process- I’ve learned a lot, and most important it become part of me: being mindful, be aware, not be judgemental, taking care of the words I used to myself and to others etc.

If you are curious to know more about coaching, don’t be shy to contact me. Our 30-minute conversation is called “discovery”. You will have the space to talk about your situation, your needs, and your goals. If we think it’s a good fit, I’ll send you details of a coaching contract without a high-pressure sales pitch. Coaching only works when you have the willpower to make change happen in your life.
If you got that, I’d love to hear from you.
With joy from Berlin,
